Getting Here
At the intersection between Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and St. Louis, the rolling hills and forests of the Uplands beckon any roadfarers to pause and admire this beautiful place we call home.
By Car
- Louisville: From I-65 north, take exit 7 for State Road 60 west towards Salem, the gem of Washington County.
- Cincinnati: Take exit 16 off I-275 onto State Road 50 west and cruise all the way to Lawrence County’s main city of Bedford.
- EVANSVILLE: Follow I-69 and drive near the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), the world's third largest naval base.
- Indianapolis: Follow I-65 south to State Road 46 west toward Nashville and the heart of Brown County. Or, take I-465 to State Road 37 south for a fast-track to Bloomington.
- St.Louis: A straight shot on I-64 will bring you to the core of leafy green Hoosier National Forest and its hundreds of hiking and biking trails.
By plane
Fly in and out of the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) in Marion County as a major hub for national and international air travel. Then head south by car for access to all the magnificence the Uplands has to offer. Headed to our more southern counties? Consider flying in and out of nearby Louisville International Airport (SDF).

Interstate 69
Venture along I-69, the Midwestern highway that will eventually stretch from Canada to Mexico—with the Uplands neatly situated in the center. This breathtaking drive through rolling hills, robust farmland, and thriving cities will connect eight states to the heart of the Uplands.
Trails & Trestles
Play and explore on over 75 hiking trails. Pump your tires and bike the 48-mile Union Pass Road, lace up your hiking boots for a day in Hoosier National Forest, or pay a visit to Greene County’s Tulip Trestle.
